Connemara filly, *15 June 2009, breeder Outi Talvi Ay, Jämsä, Finland
In January 2010 I finally bought my first Connemara Pony, filly Aramara Redemption. Redemption was born bay without any white marks - let alone a few pink spots in her left eyelid! - and is slowly turning grey. I first saw her when she was six days old - she was a tiny rocket flying around her dam! She's getting calmer by the day, and she rather stands still than jumps around if something scares her.
Redemption is one of few ponies descending from the very first Supreme Champion of the very first Connemara Pony Show in Finland - Gigi Egely. Gigi Egely was later successful also in the National Pony Show in Finland, earning three consecutive "Best Veteran" titles of all pony breeds in 1995-1997. She only had three foals in Finland, out of which two colts were gelded.
Redemption's dam is Aramara New Beginning, a true to type daughter of Innellan Kestrel. Her dam, Aramara Maggie May, was some years ago pointed out to me by a former president of the CPBS as the "ideal broodmare" that I had told him I was looking for. I wasn't able to buy her, but surprisingly, I now own her granddaughter. Preliminary we also have plans for Maggie May once she has - in the future - finished her day job as a riding school pony.
Sire Dale Mountain Mist is one of Dale Haze's last sons. Dale Haze was born in Ireland but spent most of his life in Sweden, earning an Elite title for his progeny. Dale Mountain Mist's dam Brolötens Irish Made (by Abbeyleix Fionn) was the Supreme Champion of the Swedish Connemara Show in 2001. Mountain Mist was imported to Finland from Sweden, and will be shown for final Stud Book inspection in 2010. He covered his first mares in 2007.
